Terms of Use

Marcato: GPS Map Camera Stamp · Aplogon · Effective 19 October 2026

Using Marcato

Marcato is provided by Aplogon, an independent app developer based in Sri Lanka. It is a camera that stamps photos with a map, the address, the coordinates, the date and time and your notes, and organises them into jobs and reports. By using the app you agree to these terms. You must be at least 16 years old to use Marcato.

What a stamp is, and isn't

A stamp records what your phone reported when you took the photo: the position and its accuracy from the phone's location services, the address from the phone's address lookup, and the time from the phone's clock. Marcato never changes or invents a position, and it says on the stamp when a position is approximate, old or from a mock-location app. But positions can be off (indoors, near tall buildings, with approximate location), addresses are the nearest ones known, not a survey, and a phone's clock can be set by its owner. A stamp is a record you made, not a certified, legally verified or tamper-proof one. Check whether it meets the requirements of whoever you send it to.

Use Marcato lawfully. Respect people's privacy: don't photograph or share pictures of people or private places where you are not allowed to, and remember that a photo's stamp, and its file if you keep the location in it, shows where it was taken.

Your photos and data

Your photos are saved in your phone's gallery, and Marcato's records of them, your jobs and templates stay on your device (see the Privacy Policy). We never have a copy, so we cannot recover lost photos or records for you, and Android's app backup is off for Marcato. Keep your own copies of photos and reports you need. You are responsible for the photos you take and share, and for the lines you type onto them.

The app's content and maps

Marcato's design, texts, templates and icon are Aplogon's own work. Maps are drawn from OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License) in the OpenMapTiles schema (© OpenMapTiles), served by OpenFreeMap; the credit is drawn on every map, and you should keep it when you use a stamped photo or report. Marcato uses the Inter typeface under the SIL Open Font License; the licences of the software it uses are listed in Settings › Open-Source Licences. Map and address services are provided by third parties and may change or stop without notice; Marcato then makes stamps without them.

Liability

Marcato is provided “as is”. We work hard to record every photo correctly, but we can't guarantee that every position, address, map, time or feature is right or available on every phone. To the extent the law allows, Aplogon is not liable for decisions made on the basis of a stamp, for lost photos or data, or for losses arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the effective date above will change when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Contact: apexfordinith@gmail.com.
