Using Hilalo

Hilalo is provided by Aplogon, an independent app developer based in Sri Lanka. It shows Hijri and Gregorian dates, the Islamic year's events, a date converter, your own Hijri dates, reminders and home-screen widgets. By using the app you agree to these terms. You must be at least 16 years old to use Hilalo.

Calculated dates

Hilalo's Hijri dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia, calculated in advance, moved by the adjustment you choose. In many countries and communities a month begins only once the new crescent has been sighted, so the dates there, especially the start of Ramadan and the Eids, can differ from Hilalo's by a day or two. Event dates in Hilalo are expected dates, not religious rulings. For fasting, prayer, Hajj and every act of worship, always follow the announcement of the religious authority where you live. The short descriptions of each occasion are general information, and practices vary between communities.

Free version and Hilalo Pro

Hilalo is free to use with ads (see the Privacy Policy). The free version includes today's dates, the calendar, every Islamic event with reminders, the converter, the date adjustment, all seven languages, the Date widget, and three of My Dates; you can watch a short ad to keep one more date each time.
Hilalo Pro removes ads and adds unlimited My Dates, the Month widget, widget styles, today's Hijri date on your lock screen, and backup, restore and calendar export.
Hilalo Pro is available as a one-time lifetime purchase or as a yearly subscription through Google Play. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Google Play account.
The yearly subscription renews automatically at the end of each year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; Pro stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. If Google Play offers a free trial for it, the app shows the trial length and price before you start, and the yearly price is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel in Google Play before then.
If a subscription price changes, Google Play tells you in advance. For some increases you must accept the new price, or the subscription ends at the end of the current period.
Manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play (profile icon › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions) or from Settings › Manage Subscription in Hilalo. Uninstalling the app does not cancel it.
The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment, not a subscription, and never renews. It unlocks Pro on any device signed in to the same Google account (use Settings › Restore Purchases), for as long as Hilalo is offered on Google Play.
If a subscription ends or a purchase is refunded, Pro features switch off. Your dates stay on your device, including any beyond the free limit; to add more, watch a short ad for each one or get Hilalo Pro again.
Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policies.

Your data

Your dates and settings stay on your device (see the Privacy Policy). We never have a copy, so we cannot recover lost dates for you. Hilalo Pro includes backup and restore so you can keep your own copy; deleting dates or uninstalling Hilalo cannot be undone.

The calendar data

Hilalo's Umm al-Qura table is built from published calendar data and checked against the official Umm al-Qura converter. Hilalo is not affiliated with or endorsed by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the Government of Saudi Arabia or any religious authority. The app's design, its texts, its icon and its widgets are Aplogon's own work.

Liability

Hilalo is provided “as is”. We work hard to show correct dates, but we can't guarantee that every date, reminder or widget is right or on time on every phone. To the extent the law allows, Aplogon is not liable for missed or mistimed observances or appointments, for lost data, or for losses arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law.
