Using Daktylo
Daktylo is provided by Aplogon, an independent app developer based in Sri Lanka. It offers typing speed tests, touch-typing lessons, practice with your own texts, statistics and a daily practice reminder. By using the app you agree to these terms. You must be at least 16 years old to use Daktylo.
Scores and practice
Daktylo measures speed the standard way, counting five characters as one word, and explains each figure in the app under How Speed Is Measured. Results depend on your device, your keyboard app and how you type, so they can differ from other apps, websites or tests. Daktylo is a practice tool: it is not connected to, approved by or a substitute for any typing exam, school, employer or exam board, and your results in it are not an official certificate of your speed.
Free version and Daktylo Pro
- Daktylo is free to use with ads (see the Privacy Policy). The free version includes 1 and 3 minute tests and tests with no time limit, the built-in practice texts (common words, everyday words, passages and numbers), the home, top and bottom row lessons, stats for the last 7 and 30 days, the key heat map, your results history, the daily goal, streak and reminder. You can watch a short ad to unlock one 5 or 10 minute test, one Pro lesson or one weak-key practice run each time (practice with your own texts needs Pro).
- Daktylo Pro removes ads and adds 5 and 10 minute tests, the capitals, punctuation and number lessons, weak-key practice, practice with your own texts, all-time stats and exporting your results.
- Daktylo Pro is a one-time purchase through Google Play, not a subscription: you pay once and it never renews. The price is shown in the app before you buy, and payment is charged to your Google Play account.
- Pro unlocks on any device signed in to the same Google account (use Settings › Restore Purchases), for as long as Daktylo is offered on Google Play.
- If a purchase is refunded, Pro features switch off. Your results and texts stay on your device.
- Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policies.
Your data and your texts
Your results, lesson stars, texts and settings stay on your device (see the Privacy Policy). We never have a copy, so we cannot recover lost results for you, and a result you delete cannot be brought back in Daktylo. After you uninstall Daktylo, your data comes back only if Android restores it from your own Google account backup when you reinstall (see the Privacy Policy). Daktylo Pro can export your results as a file so you can keep your own copy. Only add texts to Your Texts that you have the right to use for your own practice.
The app's content
Daktylo's practice texts, word lists and lessons were written for the app, and its design, texts and icon are Aplogon's own work. Daktylo uses the Inter typeface under the SIL Open Font License; the licences of the software it uses are listed in Settings › Open-Source Licences.
Liability
Daktylo is provided “as is”. We work hard to measure every test correctly, but we can't guarantee that every result, reminder or feature is right or on time on every phone and keyboard. To the extent the law allows, Aplogon is not liable for decisions made on the basis of a result, for lost data, or for losses arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law.
Changes and contact
